God is the author of the Bible, and as Christians, we cling to the written word at all times. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works,” we learn in 2 Timothy 3:16-17.

In Acts 20:32, the King James Version (KJV) says, “And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.” From the Scriptures cited above, we see that the word of God is our reference for all moral standards and boundaries and for how to live our lives.

It’s important to note that discussions of religious beliefs are a sensitive topic, and beliefs and interpretations can vary greatly among different individuals and communities. The question of what happens to those who reject Christ is a complex and divisive issue among Christians. There are several different interpretations of what rejecting Christ means and what the consequences of that rejection might be.

I will emphasize here that the majority of those who disagree with what is explicitly stated in the Bible do so to protect their interests rather than to honestly seek out the truth. This is done to their detriment and their peril because God says in Matthew 24:35 that “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.”

What they are doing is promoting the lies of the devil and hindering the gullible ones from coming to the knowledge of Christ. Such individuals will be rewarded because “the Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any perish, but that all come to repentance.” 2 Peter 3:9, KJV.

As a result, my response to the question of what happens if you do not accept Jesus Christ is given with the utmost respect for all points of view. I must communicate the truth as it is found in God’s Word without altering it because if I do, I run the risk of drawing the ire of God. Hence, I will draw my answer from the Word of God, which does not contradict itself because God and His Word are one.

Those who specialize in arguing the word of God should hear what He says in Proverbs 30:5–6: Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

In general, the belief among many Christians is that those who reject Christ will not receive salvation and will not be able to spend eternity in heaven. In other words, rejecting Christ is believed to result in eternal separation from God. One common belief is that rejecting Christ means that a person has not accepted him as their savior and has therefore not received forgiveness for their sins. This means that they are not able to enter heaven because they are still carrying the weight of their sins. Now, this is my firm belief, well drawn and backed up by the Word of God, as we will see in the next few paragraphs: Refusing Christ in this world means you have not been forgiven of your sins, and continuing in sin will lead to eternal damnation.

We read in John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” It then follows that those who refuse Jesus Christ today will not receive eternal life.

In Acts 4:12, we read that “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Further, in John 14:6, Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. And in Acts 2:38, Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Ultimately, the question of what happens to those who reject Christ is not a matter of personal belief or interpretation. The answer is explicitly stated in the Word of God, except when someone chooses to turn a blind eye to the truth and interpret the Word of God for their liking. It is important that you learn to study the Bible for yourself, “so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro by the waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness in deceitful schemes.” Ephesians 4:14.

Now hear this: Hell was never meant for us because we were created in God’s image and likeness to reign with Him in glory. Refusing to accept Jesus, the Son of God, as our Savior—who died and rose from the dead to save us—will lead to hell. Jesus Christ has paid the penalty for our salvation by giving His life in exchange for our sins. He paid a debt that He did not owe by dying for us on the cross as a way of redeeming us from the curse of the law, restoring us to the Father, and retrieving the power over death that Satan stole from Adam, the first man.

Hell is meant for the devil and his fallen demons, not you and me, as seen in Matthew 25:41. As a result, anyone who rejects Christ in this world is choosing to follow Satan. The devil is destined for hell, but if any man refuses to accept Jesus into their life, they will end up following Satan into his destiny, where there is endless pain and gnashing of teeth, as Jesus Himself described it for us in the Bible.

Hell is a very terrible place to end up. Though it can be avoided, God will not force himself on anybody. He says, “Choose you this day whom you will serve.” He has given us free will to make our own decisions. Ultimately, our decisions will obtain for us whatever it is that we’ve decided to do with our lives here on earth. We are “strangers and pilgrims on the earth.” (Hebrews 11:13)

In Matthew 7:13, we read, “Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter through it.” What this means is that the way that leads to life is not attractive; it is narrow and unimpressive for those whose eyes are blinded to the truth by the devil. On the other hand, the broad road is such that it bears all the pleasures of this world. Many find it appealing because they can indulge their fleshly desires here, but the eventual result is eternal damnation in the fires of hell.

In Matthew 25:31–33, we read, “But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne. All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats; and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left.” Furthermore, in Matthew 25:46, we read that “These will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” In like manner, Matthew 13:42 says, “and will throw them into the furnace of fire; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Finally, I will take a cue from the Apostle Paul’s writing in 1 Peter 2:11: “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul.” Change your thinking so that God can deliver you from the grip of Satan. You see, without a rightened mind, God would do nothing. If you continue to believe or promote the lies of the devil, you will have yourself to blame on the day of reckoning. By the time a person departs this world, their fate is sealed. Therefore, since nobody knows when Christ will come or when they will die, it makes perfect sense to turn around and follow Jesus right now.

It’s important to remember that religious beliefs are deeply personal and should be treated with respect. Christians and non-Christians alike can hold different beliefs and still find common ground in their shared values and experiences. As a Christian, my goal is to offer the truth, but it’s up to each individual to determine their own beliefs and interpretations. My greatest hope is that God will deliver the sinner from the devil’s and his minions’ traps.
